Load Banks
UPR owns multi-megawatts of testing capacity load banks that can be deployed for testing of turbines and large capacity generators. We have good track records of delivery with successful execution of the testing equipment to remote regions such as a cement factory in Saudi Arabia, shipyards at Dalian, Shanghai and Guangzhou in China and offshore platform that belongs to Pertamina, Indonesia.
Load banks supply can be in both resistive and inductive types, depending on client’s testing requirements. A handheld controller for simple load step is made available for use in addition to the proprietary software that can be uploaded to computer for a higher demanded load. The latter has the ability to present the response of the generators graphically.
UPR’s load banks come in the range of 1MVA, 3MVA and 6MVA types and the testing system can be further enhanced by interlinking these equipment up to 72MVA capacity output.
Other applications include Load Testing of UPS, Static Transfer Switch, Standby Generator at Data Centres and other buildings. It may be used to discharge battery bank.

Load Testing Projects
TRANSFORMERS
UPR’s fleet of transformers are available at its various regional depots to support its power fleet. These transformers can be configured for step up/step down purpose, depending on the actual site power demand. UPR also possesses auto transformers, both dry and mineral oil types.
For the more complex requirements whereby higher voltages may be called for in the project, UPR has transformers with 3.3kV, 6.6kV, 13.2kV, 13.8kV, 20kV and 22kV design. They are available with an individual capacity of 2.0MVA, 3.15MVA and 5MVA. They can be paralleled to provide more than 80MVA of capacity.
Uniqueness of UPR Transformers:
- Compact in size with high capacity.
- ABB and other well-known brands are used to reduce losses caused by high impedance
- Optional for housing in enclosure with lifting corners and forklift pockets.
- For larger units, they are assembled as containerised unit, completed with cooling fans and switchgears to provide adequate safety measures.

Switchgear System
UPR utilises world renowned brand of switchgears such as ABB and Schneider for high voltage switching and protection. These switchgears are compact in size and designed for up to 25kA, 3 seconds fault protection.
The switchgears are usually housed in a well-ventilated environment with IP54 insulation. Depending on the project needs, synchro-check meter, power metering, live-on indication lights, main breakers and other safety devices can be found in the switchgears. |
